This is Ciudad Universitaria metro station entrance at 5 past something of yesterday's hot evening. As you can see the place is empty. The university is empty indeed right now, only people working there (as I am) remain there. There's no noise, movement... everything is so quiet... it's even scary!!

Kids & scouts on a trip!

A couple of days ago I found this excursion in the metro. They were like twenty boys and girls laughing and screaming in the coach... something hard to manage for me!
What were your more pleasant trip when you were kid? Do you remember?
I remember going to a Bread Industry as an incredible experience! they gave us a lot of freshly baked bread... mmmm yummy!!

Last night, at Plaza de España station, waiting for the Metro at 1:30 pm... We're celebrating San Isidro nowadays! Have fun in your weekened till it's over! ;)

Ayer por la noche, en la estación de Plaza España, esperando al Metro a la 1:30 de la mañana... Estamos en las Fiestas de San Isidro! Disfrutad hasta el último minuto del finde! ;)

If you ever come to Madrid (which I strongly recommend you!) there is a fast way to reach your destination, METRO. It's our subway or underground and connects almost any part of the city without traffic jam! (You can check out the Metro map here.)
The subway starts at 6.00 am and stops at 2.00 am everyday. It would be a great idea to keep it open 24h in weekend, at least Friday and Saturday for young people (we have special night buses instead but it take a long time to get back home so people just take their cars).
A single ticket costs 1 euro and a ten-journey ticket (Metrobús) is 6.40 euro and it can be also used on Madrid's buses.

Si alguna vez visitaís Madrid (merece la pena, de verdad) hay una forma rápida de llegar a cualquier rincón de la ciudad y sin atascos, el METRO (puedes consultar el plano aquí).
Abre todos los días de 6 de la mañana a 2 de la madrugada. Sería una gran idea dejarlo abierto las 24 h durante los fines de semana para evitar que la gente saque el coche en sus noches de juerga (tenemos autobuses nocturnos, pero tardan un siglo en llevarte a casa, y Taxis pero no son aptos para todos los bolsilllos).
Un ticket te cuesta 1 euro y un metrobús de 10 viajes 6.40, y además también te sirve para los autobuses.
¡Pasad un buen finde!

A sunset moment in Puerta del Sol (Sol Metro Station). It seems a collage, but hey, just zoomed it a little! if you want to see this place go to a previous post here. From left to right you can see an equestrian sculture of King Carlos III, Alcalá street (where you can see the top of Art Centre building and an imposing sculpture (click here for another view) in the roof of a headquarter bank and Tio Pepe neon signal which is really more than a simply ad.
Sol, this is a nice place to start your weekend at Friday night! Have a nice one there!

Atardecer en la Puerta del Sol (Estación de Sol). Parece un collage, pero sólo le di un poco de zoom! Hay otro post anterior en el que podeís ver esta plaza (usar link arriba). De izquierda a derecha, vemos a Carlos III en su caballlo (y entre sombras), el principio de la calle Alcalá (donde vemos el final del edificio del Círculo de Bellas Artes y la cuádriga que ya habeís visto en otro post), y el anuncio luminoso de Tio Pepe que ya es más que una publicidad.
Sol, sin duda un buen sitio para empezar el fin de semana en la noche del Viernes! ¡Buen finde!

Turquía in the Metro

This is a Turquía (Turkey) adverstisement in the entry of a Metro station. Some weeks ago I saw one of Trujillo in Metro too but couldn't take a photo (sorry, Giuce).
I think this ad shows a happy man in a little boat and behind you can see the Ortakoy mosque and the Bosporus bridge (I checked Google earth! but I'm not totally sure).
Which country is advertised in your city? Which country or city would you like to visit soon? I have a long long list but Istambul is one of the top spots of my ranking!

Este es un anuncio de Turquía que encontré el otro día en la entrada del Metro. Hace ya tiempo dí con uno de Trujillo, pero no llevaba la cámara conmigo y no volví a verlo.
Creo que aquí vemos a un hombrecillo feliz sobre un barquito y a sus espaldas la Mezquita Ortakoy y el puente del Bósforo (consulté con Google Earth! pero no estoy muy segura tampoco).
¿Qué paises anuncian en tu ciudad? ¿Qué país o ciudad te gustaría visitar próximamente? yo tengo una larguísisisima lista, pero sin duda Estambul y (Turquía entera) ¡está en los primeros puestos!

Sevilla in Madrid

Sevilla subway station in a cloudy day, It´s located in Alcalá street, the longest in Madrid and one of the most ancient. Those spectacular buildings are Banks .

La boca de Metro de Sevilla en un día nublado, está en la calle de Alcalá, la más larga de Madrid y una de las más antiguas. Esos edificios tan espectaculares aunque no lo parezca son bancos. Cuando no se sabe qué hacer con el dinero se ponen cuádrigas y estatuas en el tejado, quién no lo ha hecho alguna vez en su casa…;) lo cierto es que no queda mal.¿no?

Run away from the rain!

Yesterday was a weird day... The sun shone in the morning, it made a nice weather, I left my coat at home... but in the evening, the wind begun to blow hard, the sun vanished behind the clouds, and it started to rain cats and dogs. I was with some friends and we had to run till the first bar, it wasn't very cool but at least you didn't get soaked!
You see Mamma Mia neon sign there too, Musical shows are in fashion here!

Ayer fue un día raro.. por la mañana el sol brillaba y hacía tan bueno que podías dejar el abrigo en casa. Pero por la tarde, empezó a soplar un viento muy fuerte, el sol despareció tras las nubes, y empezó a llover a cántaros. Yo estba con unos amigos y tuvimos que meternos en el primer bar que encontramos... no era un sitio muy "cool" pero al menos no nos calamos!
También veis una cartel luminoso del musical Mamma Mia en la calle, los musicales están de moda en madrid últimamente.

As I was walking by the street something caught my attention, like happened to this man. Again this adverstiment painted in the floor I saw a few meters behind... What is that about "Madrid Abierto"? So I search on the net, and it's about art-making live on the street, if I have time it would be great to enjoy one of this events, but I don't know... It's an impact way to make publicity! Anyway, this is the underground station entrace "Banco de España" next to Cibeles fountain...
It's a kind of funny... "abierto" means "open", and it's written next to a "hole" in the floor... you know what I mean? LOL (like Ame says... )

Caminando por la calle algo de repente, atrajo mi atención, al igual que le ocurrió a este buen hombre, otra vez un anuncio pintado en el suelo que ya había visto metros atrás.. ¿de qué va esto de "Madrid Abierto"? Pues bien, cuando llegué a casa, busqué en internet, y resulta que es una especie de festival artístico callejero que va a tener lugar en Madrid durante este mes. Estaría genial poder asistir a alguno de estos eventos, pero no sé si tendré tiempo... de todas formas, me parece una forma bastante impactante de publicitar algo eh? Aquí también podeís ver la entrada del metro de la estación "Banco de España"... ¡Hasta mañana!
