Late sunset in the mountains
Click on image to enlarge it!One of the things I like of Madrid is its surroundings. At less than an hour by car you'll find yourself in another and totally different place, the mountains. Madrid has a great mountain range and you can practise there climbing, hiking and sky (if there's snow!) or just enjoy of a non-city day! I'm sorry you can't see almost anything on this pic, but you have to believe me! ;)
There was a little of snow in this mountain, maybe if you enlarge the photo you'll see it!
Una de las cosas que me gusta de madrid son sus alrededores. En menos de una hora puedes encontrarte en un sitio toalmente distinto. La sierra, las montañas. Madrid tiene una gran sierra donde puedes disfrutar de un ocio muy distinto al de la ciudad, escalada, senderismo, incluso esquí (si es la temporada) o simplemente para desconectar de la ciudad y pasar un día en el campo! En esta foto casi no se ve nada, asi que tendreís que creerme! hay un poquito de nieve en la montaña, tal vez si aumentais la foto podreís verla.

I can just make out a little snow. But it's a great photo. I like photos of mountains.
That would be my ideal - to live in a big city and in an hour's drive escape to the country!
You'll have to take us to the mountains so we can see more, but this is absolutely beautiful already, Dsole!
This is a "painterly photo"--lovely view. I like the layered look of the mountain range.

I think you can enjoy of this beautiful lanscapes at 50-60 km aproximately from center Madrid.
It's very common for us to spend the weekend there!
