Fresh waffles! / ¡Al rico barquillo!

This chap, dressed in the traditional chulapo (Madrid pure-breed inhabitant, like London's cockneys) outfit, is a barquillero (waffle seller). They still can be seen in Madrid, but mainly as a touristic attraction. The red cylindric box he carries has a sort of "wheel of fortune" on top. The customer pays a fixed price, and turns the wheel: he then receives as many waffles as the wheel indicates. It's fun, and a tradition which I like would be kept for many years. I once got 21 waffles!

Where in Madrid was this picture taken? I'm visiting Madrid in a few months and would love to try the waffle "wheel of fortune" game while I am there :)

that is such a fun sounding game and I love waffles - I think I would visit this place every day if I could - waffles and fresh homemade strawberry jelly!

Thanks for your comments!
>Aloha Pineapple, the photo was taken in the Retiro Park, but you can find barquilleros in several touristic parts of the city, like Plaza Mayor.
